Opportunity to Share Information at SIGS Genealogy Conferences

Strathclyde Institute for Genealogical Studies (SIGS) will host an international academic genealogy conference, Beyond the Family Tree, at the University of Strathclyde on 25–26 June 2026. The conference will be delivered in a hybrid format, allowing both in-person and online participation.

In addition, a one-day APG Professional Genealogy Symposium will take place on 24 June 2026, delivered in partnership with SIGS.

We are pleased to offer Scottish Family History Associations, local history libraries, and related organisations the opportunity to share information at the conferences. Display tables will be available during breaks, where materials can be shared with delegates.

Contributors are welcome to:
– Send PDF versions of flyers for us to print (A4 preferable), or
– Post printed materials for display on the tables

There is no cost to participate. If representatives are attending in person, they are also welcome to staff a dedicated table, although this is entirely optional.

To ensure inclusion, we kindly ask that all materials are received by 22 June 2026.

Please send materials by email to clare.hennessey@strath.ac.uk

Please post materials to:

“Escape to the Past – Family History Retreat Glasgow 2026”

Have you ever imaged getting away from the noise of everyday life and immersing yourself in family history?  Then Escape to the Past with us.  Our retreats are part learning, part adventure and part pure research joy.  If you are craving focused research time, expert guidance, and a chance to reconnect with your passion for family history, then the opportunity is here.  Run by Mia Bennett (AGRA Associate) and Fiona Brooker, the next Escape to the Past retreat is taking place on the weekend of 27/28 June in central Glasgow.  In advance, an introductory session via Zoom lets you meet the group and start identifying the family history topic you want to work on during your focused time – whether it be a specific brickwall, writing up the story of an ancestor, working out a set of DNA matches or just taking stock and developing a research plan for the future – the choice is yours.  Then there is the two whole days of genealogy fun in Glasgow.  Teaching is a combination of one!

All your food is included and there is a special activity on the Saturday evening.  The cost is £300 or quote FHS2026 to get a £10 discount if you book before 18 April.  If this has you keen to know more, head to https://www.miagenealogy.com/escape-to-the-past-glasgow-2026/ and sign up to the newsletter.  You will then receive all the information about the Glasgow retreat.  We look forward to escaping with you in Glasgow
