Members’ Interests

Renfrewshire Family History Society offers its members the facility to advertise their family surnames in the hope of finding a contact and mutual support and knowledge.

To that end they need to provide a list of:

  1. Surnames, with known spelling variations.
  2. The place(s) in which they lived – town(s), county and country
  3. The time period spent there.

Submission forms are available below.

File links to be added

The current list is prepared and sent, electronically, to current members, usually at the same time as the bi-annual Journal.  The database will NOT be displayed online.

Only members can enter their interests but we have undertaken to leave channels of communication available to past members who are willing to accept future messages and keep their contact details updated.

A list of Renfrewshire FHS names (from those members who are happy to have their interests lodged) is included in the Family History Federation’s ‘Surname Interests‘ database with links these to ours, giving those displayed a significanytly greater chance of finding a relationship.

Instructions to our own members can be found on page 1 of our Members’ Interests booklet.

If you have arrived here by way of the Family History Federation, welcome!

Please get in touch using the Contact Form on this site giving your name and the address, email or postal, which you wish us to use and to pass on to our member(s), (and to which Family History Society you belong).  A short message about which of their entries has your interest will allow them to gather their information before they get back to you or let you know that there is no connection.  We will pass your details and message to those whom you have identified and the onus is on them to contact you.

If we are made aware that contact cannot be made, we will attempt to do so for a period of six months to allow for computer problems, holidays and illness, after which the information will be deleted from both databases.
